Overview
With a powerful 769-hp V-12 engine and a striking design, the 2022 Lamborghini Aventador is the ultimate hypercar. While competitors like the Ferrari SF90 are moving toward electric engines, the Aventador drinks fuel like a party-goer enjoying a drink. Its scissor doors, wide stance, and heavily vented body make it feel like a rolling movie set for “Fast and Furious.”
Inside, the cabin can be customized for two passengers, but there isn’t much room for storing small items. The driver can unleash the Aventador’s loud roar by pressing the gas pedal or enjoy its surprising agility by steering. Although the old automatic transmission can be frustrating and the roadster’s roof is tricky to remove, these are minor issues compared to the Aventador’s incredible power and unmistakable style.
What’s New for 2022?
We’ve been expecting the Aventador to end for a while, and it looks like the 2022 model year will be its last. To celebrate, Lamborghini is making a limited run of 600 special Aventadors called the Ultimae. This final version has an upgraded V-12 engine and uses weight-saving techniques to be lighter than the previous Aventador S.
The Ultimae will also deliver more torque to the rear wheels, come with standard carbon-ceramic brakes, and feature some unique yet subtle design details.
Suggestion:Pricing and Which One to Buy
The 2022 Lamborghini Aventador starts at $507,353 and can go up to $550,542, depending on the model and options.
Model | Price |
---|---|
Ultimae Coupe | $507,353 |
Ultimae Roadster | $550,542 |
Only a limited number of Ultimae models will be made: 350 coupes and 250 roadsters available worldwide. Even with the high price, we prefer the roadster to fully enjoy the amazing sound of its V-12 engine.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The Aventador has a powerful mid-mounted 6.5-liter V-12 engine that produces 769 horsepower. It delivers 531 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels through a seven-speed automated manual transmission. While we haven’t driven the Ultimae version yet, we’ve experienced the extremely powerful SVJ (Superveloce Jota) and its convertible version. They offer incredible acceleration and strong cornering grip.
Although these heavy cars can feel bulky in turns, their great traction and four-wheel steering help them change direction quickly. We’ve also driven the Aventador S and its roadster version, and we found that the roadster is more enjoyable for hearing the thrilling sound of the V-12 engine with the top down.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
True to Lamborghini style, every Aventador has scissor doors that open upward. The low interior design shows some age, but it can be customized with high-quality materials and options. There isn’t much space for small items, and luggage room is limited.
The dashboard has a digital gauge cluster that changes its layout depending on the drive mode you choose: Strada, Sport, or Corsa. There’s also an Ego mode that lets you customize settings for the powertrain, steering, and suspension.

Infotainment and Connectivity
The Aventador’s standard infotainment system feels outdated, with old graphics and awkward features. It includes voice commands and Apple CarPlay. There’s also a performance data recorder that tracks lap times and other track information. Buyers can choose an upgraded audio system that adds subwoofers in the doors and tweeters on the dashboard for better sound.
